RESTAURANTS IN LISBON

Canalha restaurant

Here are some “edible” recommendations in Lisbon

Sinal Vermelho is one of our constants. Diverse and superbly cooked Portuguese dishes, incredible service and an endless wine list. A home filled with flavours, care and Bordallo Pinheiro art pieces watching over every meal.

Dois Arcos restaurant one of Oh! My Cod founder’s (Silvia) absolute fav spots for simple lunch, with home-style food, in Baixa district one of the last of this kind in this area. If you go there say Silvia sent you 🙂

Canalha, is Chef João Rodrigues’s new restaurant (another one of Silvia’s favourite Chefs). Worked at Feitoria and left to travel around Portugal cooking and sharing his recipes before he opened this restaurant, in November 2023. Only c with small producers and seasonal ingredients. He is also the mentor of the project Matéria, to which we identify 100%!

Prado Portuguese contemporary, trendy, delicious, sustainable. One of our favourite places in Lisbon with authentic and creative dishes done by a recognized chef Antonio Galapito

Sinal Vermelho restaurant

Ze da Mouraria (for salted codfish, aka Bacalhau – portions of 3 or 4 people)

Tapisco – Restaurant in Principe Real neighborhood. Run by a famous chef Henrique Sá Pessoa. My favourite place in Lisbon and the one I used to work. Try my favourite dishes: octopus rice, gambas a guilho, bread with tomato and ham. You can say Livia sent you there. Try to seat in front of the kitchen if you are by yourself or a couple!

Pica Pau: Portuguese restaurant in Principe Real, run by a recognized chef Luíz Gaspar (on a similar attitude but more ‘rockers’ try O Velho Eurico, Tasca Baldracca, Sal Grosso and Copo Largo).

Casa dos Passarinhos: Portuguese traditional food in restaurant open since 1923, full of locals, composed by several rooms, with tiles and vintage authentic decor. Lots of meat, grilled fish and uncommon Portuguese dishes like Sílvia loves in name of Portuguese Traditional gastronomy (like grilled roe, rabbit stew). This is what you can expect in this residential area, far from the crowds. António and his brother in law Américo (at the griller) are at the front of this family owned business.

Santa Clara dos Cogumelosfor fungus fanatics, at the center of the flea market, entirely dedicated to mushrooms from starter to dessert. Interesting decoration. Italian Chef Luigi Pintarelli. View to the river and the National Pantheon.

Casa do Alentejo petiscos and an Arabic palace to visit hidden behind a wall right at the center of the city

Taberna do Albricoque for the regional Algarvian gastronomy, southern Portugal; open on Sundays

Zuari for authentic goezian food, run by a family from Goa (and just in front an African one, named Batata Doce with a beautiful history of success run by an amazing woman; right next, if you have kids (or not!), you will find one of Silvia fav museums: Puppets Museum – Museu Marioneta)

Late Night “drunk food”  A Merendeira right next to all the Cais Sodré bars and discos… why not?

GOOD SELECTION OF WINE BARS IN LISBON

Black Sheep (organic, natural, bio-dynamic, experimental wines; tastings and shop and you can say Silvia and Lívia from Oh! My Cod recommended them ;). You can try Pico wine in this place!

Garrafeira Imperial: Wine store in Principe real neighborhood. Look for Mariana manager of the store. She will present the best labels!

Prado (Portuguese contemporary, trendy/ natural wines; check Prado Mercearia too for traditional organic products, natural wine bar and small menu).
